NBCC is an independent, scientific, not-for-profit organization that provides certifications to consultants, in accordance with industry professional standards.

It also provides certification to career counselors as well as certified training programs, through a training model, adapted to the reality of each country, with the aim of developing the counseling profession at an international level.

The organization was founded in 1982 by the American Counseling Association (ACA), with which it works closely to promote the counseling industry.

Today, more than 71,000 counselors are certified and active in the field of education, career counseling and mental health.

EBCC is a scientific, non-profit organization that supports, supervises and coordinates the bodies that implement the certified educational programs of NBCC International (NBCC-I) in Europe.

These programs are adapted to the needs of each country and are implemented in European countries such as: Germany, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Cyprus.

The organization supports:

• the development of initiatives/proposals for the implementation of new educational/vocational programs, depending on the needs of each country
• the evaluation of these programmes
• the organization or participation in European conferences and workshops
• cooperation with European professional and educational bodies for the development of certified programs

CCE was established as a subsidiary organization of NBCC and provides certifications and certified training programs for counselor training.

At the same time, it is the official examination body for the certification and licensing of consultants in the United States.
